Bubble Bobble and Zelda Coaster Sets with Box

The first handmade creation is a Legend of Zelda Coaster Set with a Coaster Box to put all of the coasters inside. The second is a similar coaster set, only this time, it has the Bubble Bobble / Bust a Move characters!

With the Zelda Coaster Set, there is:
- Coaster Box, with Triforce on the front and on the bottom where you put the coasters into the box
- Coasters: Link, Princess Zelda, Triforce, Rupee, Octorok and Tektike

And included with the Bubble Bobble coaster set:
- Coaster Box, with "Baron Von Bubbla", the white skeleton enemy on the front, and a bubble in the space where the coasters go
- Bub and Bob coasters, the heroes that you play as
- 4 Enemy Coasters: "Bubble Buster", "Stoner", "Beluga" and "Hullaballoon"

As a side note, I must mention that the white skeleton enemy from the Bubble Bobble games still scares me to this day!

Legend of Zelda Triforce Business Card Holder

A brand new item that I have created - a Legend of Zelda Triforce Business Card Holder! This is the newest in a series of video game card holders that I have up for sale in my shop. Stylish and retro art for your desk, not only cool looking but also functional and useful!

It will hold plenty of business cards while showcasing your video gaming pride! Also can be useful to hold important information or scraps of paper that you might have lying around.

There is a Triforce on the front and back of the cardholder. The cardholder is green and yellow.

(As a sidenote, this is my 100th post on this blog! Hooray!)

Featured EtsyBlogger: Create a Thought

Create a Thought is this month's featured Etsy Blogger! This is a really cool Etsy shop with tons of handmade journals, pinback buttons, greeting cards, rings, and magnets. I love the Robot Journal that is pictured above - great colors, this journal would be perfect for writing down any of your thoughts! For $7, it is a steal!

You can also find a section in the shop titled Finger Art, which features all sorts of rings made from various found materials, including buttons and charms.

In the shop announcement, I will quote Create a Thought: "Life is too short to have boring things in your life, welcome to my shop full of color and things for you to enjoy, and make your life bright!" Very true - you will find wonderful handmade items at Create a Thought that will brighten up your day!

Here is a link to the Create a Thought Blog. Check out the great graphic at the top of the page!

PC Museum Spring Sale was a Success!

Last week, I posted about the PC Museum Spring Sale that I was going to be at and it was a great success! It was the very first time I have brought the Lost Mitten store to any event in real life, outside of my online Etsy Shop. The day was a whole lotta fun and it went by super fast! It seemed like people were really interested in the video game creations that I make and I ended up selling quite a few items.

The pictures above are posted from the beginning of the day - I had my table underneath a nice, big tree. The weather was absolutely beautiful outside for the event - couldn't ask for a better day!

I brought some familiar items from the Etsy Shop, like many of the Perler Bead Nintendo crafts. Also, I made some new wall hangings for the event, like the set of Megaman II bosses, and the larger Donkey Kong decoration. I also made up a whole bunch of needlepoint fridge magnets in a whole variety of video game characters. There were also bins of button sets for sale, just like the ones up for sale in my shop.

All in all, we had a great time! My fiance, Paul, helped me out quite a bit throughout the day, with setting up my booth and keeping me company for the day. I'm also thankful that a couple of friends were there to spend the day with us, too!

This was my very first time selling at an event, and I think I might take Lost Mitten to some other sales as well! My fingers were very sore after making so many Perler bead items and needlepoints for the show, plus I was running on very little sleep in getting everything ready, but it was totally worth it. Thanks to Syd for inviting me out to the PC Museum's Spring Clean-up!

Blog Carnival: Favorite Birthday Memory

A bit of a random topic for today involving the Etsy Bloggers' Blog Carnival topic: What is your favorite birthday memory/gift/wish? The first thing that came to mind for me was birthday gift - I must have been around the age of 8, and my birthday is June 7th. For my birthday, I received a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo, as well as a pair of rollerskates (yes, rollerskates, not rollerblades!).

I was the happiest girl ever, especially for the game! A couple of years prior, my family went on vacation to Florida / Disney World and while we were down there, we bought an original Nintendo Entertainment System. I played Super Mario and Duck Hunt non-stop, and once we were back home, we were always renting new games from the video store to try out. I remember having a big garage sale at our house with all of the money going towards buying a copy of Super Mario Bros. 2 - once we reached the amount that we needed, we abandoned the yard sale to my Mom, and raced out with my Dad to buy the game.

Needless to say, I was pretty darn happy to open the present and see the next game in the series of games that I loved so much. It made a great gift to a young videogame loving girl, plus I'm sure it kept me pretty entertained over the following summer vacation!

Spring Clean-up Sale at the Personal Computer Museum - Lost Mitten Will Be There!

The Personal Computer Museum in Brantford, Ontario is having its annual Spring Clean-up Sale and I'll be there with a table! This will be the very first time that I've ever had a table at an event to sell my handmade goods in person...very excited!

This event is the Spring Clean-up Sale, which means that this is an opportunity to recycle your old computer parts, hardware, monitors, etc. There will also be other vendors there as well with vintage video games, consoles, computers, and tons of other goodies. You also have the opportunity to tour the Personal Computer museum! You should definitely go there if you get the chance to take a look at all of the old (and functioning!) computer systems - it is a blast from the past! The museum was recently featured on Canada's Space channel, on the show "The Circuit".

The sale is this Saturday (Saturday, May 23rd, 2009) from 10am-4pm. The location is 13 Alma St. in Brantford, so if you are from the city or anywhere within driving distance (looking at you Hamilton, Toronto, London, etc.), you should come and check it out.

Another feature of this year's sale is that it is Star Wars themed - there will be Star Wars villains there and a make-up artist. You can also be one of three people to win the opportunity to have a private tour of a huge Star Wars collection.

As for Lost Mitten, I will have a table at the event with all of the goodies that you see on my Etsy page, plus some new items - video game themed coasters, card holders, pen holders, Question Mark blocks, keepsake boxes; plus, pinback buttons, magnets, knit DS cases, and more. If you live in the area and you'd like to stop by, you can see all of my items in person and not have to pay any shipping charges like through the website! It would also be great if anyone who also had an Etsy shop that lived in the area wanted to stop by, it would be great to meet some other local Etsians!

Hope to see you there on Saturday!

A Knitted Village in the UK!

Originally posted on the BBC News website, an entire knitted replica of a Kent village has been made and will be put up for sale! It is a model of the village of Mersham and has been knitted by the members of the Afternoon Club that live in the village. The club has forty people in it and they have been creating the little knitted houses, cars, and people over the past 23 years.

The group has raised about £10,000 for their village by exhibiting it and will now be selling it off, piece by piece since it has become too large to be transported. Next month, the collection will be on display with all proceeds going to the local town hall.

Each knitted creation gives you a tiny glimpse into life in Mersham. There are many replica homes, cars, flowers, and people, and even small models of the local school and pubs. Thousands upon thousands of hours of handiwork have been put into this collection, so it is quite impressive! It is too bad that the buildings and items will all be split up, but it gives people from the town the chance to buy a model of their own home or favorite hang-out spot. Be sure to also visit the BBC article for a video of the knitted town.
